Important Announcement Regarding Washington Square Park:

Two anticipated improvement projects will result in closures during 2018 & 2019.

Playground Renovation Project
Anticipated Completion Date October 2018

EARLY 2019: Entire Park Renovation - Irrigation & Drainage Systems &
Hardscape Improvement

Anticipated Closure of 6 Months

The Washington Square Water Conservation Project seeks to replace the park’s existing irrigation system, with the goal of reducing existing water use by two-thirds; from approximately 3.3 million gallons per year, to 1.1 million gallons per year. Additionally, the project seeks to address saturated soil conditions on the main lawn and replace the existing pathways. Construction is anticipated to start in early 2019, with a planned 6 month park closure. The new children’s playground and restroom will remain open during construction.

All possible is being done to mitigate any inconvenience the closure will create for the community.

The Recreation & Park Department will provide ongoing community outreach and project updates through fall of 2018 and early 2019. If you have questions related to the project, please contact the Rec & Park Project Manager,
Levi Conover.
