Important Announcement Regarding Washington Square Park

AS OF JUNE 21, 2019, THE MAJORITY OF THE SQUARE HAS BEEN CLOSED OFF TO COMPLETE MAJOR RENOVATION PROJECT THAT WILL INCLUDE:

   - Replacement of the antiquated irrigation system that will save 2.2 million gallons of water per

     year.

   - Upgrading of main lawn soil conditions: includes installation of a drainage system

   - Replacement of aging pathways

                                        ANTICIPATED COMPLETION DATE:

                                               First week of January, 2020

The playground and restrooms will remain open during this closure.

The Friends of Washington Square fully recognizes the disruption this closure is having on all the Square users and the entire North Beach community. We are, however, convinced that the opportunity to complete the infrastructure upgrades and improvements are worth the sacrifice that is being asked of all of us today. The support of the community groups and individuals helping move this project is very much appreciated, forward
